New Delhi: Lava Thursday unveiled a sub-INR 10,000 smartphone Blaze that runs stock Android 12 on Helio A22 chipset and sports a glass back which according to the company is a first for the segment.

The 12nm Helio A22 chip has 8x Cortex-A53 CPU cores and PowerVR GE8300 GPU, just enough resources to run full-blooded Android. It is paired with 3GB of RAM (plus 3GB of virtual RAM) and 64GB of built-in storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card. Lava is promising two years of security patches but makes no mention of OS updates. The smartphone comes with a 6.5” IPS LCD display with 720 x 1,600px resolution.

In the camera department, the device is equipped with a triple camera setup in the rear with the main 13MP main camera. It has an 8MP selfie camera with face unlock capability. 

Lava Blaze is powered by a relatively large 5,000mAh battery and according to the company it provides enough power for over eight hours of YouTube streaming or 40 hours of talk time.

Priced at INR 8700, Lava Blaze is a dual-SIM phone with 4G connectivity and a triple card slot i.e the users won't have to choose between SIM2 and a microSD. It also comes with Wi-Fi 5 (ac) and Bluetooth 5.0.

Pe-order begins today on the company’s official site as well as on Flipkart open sales begin next week on July 14.
