The Indian Government has approved 22 proposals under the third tranche of the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), involving a projected investment of ₹41,863 crore and creation of 33,791 direct jobs, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) said on January 2, 2026.

The approvals cover 11 key component categories, including PCBs, capacitors, connectors, enclosures, lithium-ion cells, camera and display modules, optical transceivers, and critical supply-chain materials such as anode material, copper-clad laminates, and aluminium extrusion. The projects are expected to generate production worth ₹2.58 lakh crore and support sectors such as mobile manufacturing, telecom, consumer electronics, automotive, and IT hardware.

With this tranche, a total of 46 applications have been approved under ECMS across 11 states, with cumulative investment of ₹54,567 crore and direct employment for around 51,000 people.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the scheme is strengthening India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem and reducing import dependence, while MoS Jitin Prasada noted that India is emerging as a reliable global electronics manufacturing destination.
