Budget 2026: DBG Technology Hails ‘India Semiconductor Mission 2.0’ as a Game-Changer for EMS Sector
Following the presentation of the Union Budget 2026-27, leaders in the Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) industry have welcomed the government’s aggressive focus on high-value technology and indigenous production. Abhishek Garg, Director of DBG Technology Pvt. Ltd, described the budget as a “transformative push” that reinforces India’s trajectory toward becoming a global electronics powerhouse.

The Budget, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, headlined a major expansion of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0 and a substantial increase in the outlay for the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), which has been raised to ₹40,000 crore.
Strengthening the ‘Make in India’ Ecosystem
Reflecting on the announcements, Abhishek Garg emphasized that the policy framework is perfectly aligned with the industry’s shift from simple assembly to deep-tier manufacturing.
“Union Budget 2026 further strengthens the foundation for the Government’s enhanced capital expenditure and progressive industry-focused schemes,” said Garg. “Particularly the expansion of the India Semiconductor Mission 2.0 with a significant outlay—signal a transformative push for electronics, semiconductors and high-value tech manufacturing.”
Focus on Components and Skills
A key pillar of this year’s budget is the emphasis on reducing import dependence by incentivizing the local production of critical electronic components. Garg noted that the focus on skills development and strategic investment incentives is a “decisive step” for the sector.
“We are encouraged by this forward-looking policy framework that aligns with our commitment to innovation, ‘Make in India’, and empowering the Indian technology ecosystem,” he added.
Key Highlights for the Electronics Sector:
- ISM 2.0 Launch: A renewed mission focusing on semiconductor equipment, materials, and the development of indigenous Intellectual Property (IP).
- ECMS Outlay Boost: Increase to ₹40,000 crore to capitalize on the massive investment interest in component manufacturing.
- Workforce Empowerment: Deployment of industry-led research and training centers to create a pipeline of high-tech talent.
- Global Competitiveness: Policy measures aimed at strengthening India’s position in the global supply chain, encouraging long-term FDI and job creation.
Outlook for Growth
As a leading player in the EMS space, DBG Technology views these reforms as vital for sustained competitiveness. Garg concluded that the budget would not only accelerate industry growth but also “inspire confidence for long-term investment and job creation,” ultimately fortifying India’s status in the global technology landscape.
For companies like DBG, the 2026 Budget signals a move toward a more resilient and self-reliant ecosystem, ensuring that “Designed in India” and “Made in India” become synonymous with global quality.
