Telegram Services Restored in India After Temporary Restriction
  • PublishedJune 23, 2026

The Indian Government has lifted the temporary restrictions imposed on the messaging platform Telegram, restoring access to its services across the country following the conclusion of the NEET-UG re-examination.

Telegram is once again available for download on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, while messaging services have resumed for most users. The platform’s website has also become accessible in several parts of the country, indicating that the temporary block has been withdrawn.

The restrictions had been introduced earlier this month as a precautionary measure to curb the circulation of examination-related content during the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate), or NEET-UG, re-examination held on June 21.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) had directed internet service providers to block access to Telegram until June 22 in an effort to safeguard the integrity of the examination process.

With the examination period over, the government has restored access to the messaging platform, allowing users across India to resume normal services.
