Motorola Announces Edge 40 Pro
New Delhi — Motorola announced Motorola Edge 40 Pro which boasts an impressive Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, blazing-fast 125W charging, and a remarkable 50MP main camera with a large sensor. While its hardware is similar to Moto X40 which was announced in China, the Edge 40 Pro stands out with its sleek and clean UI which is much closer to the stock Android 13 experience.
The Motorola Edge 40 Pro sports a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with a 165Hz refresh rate, accompanied by elegant 2.5D curved sides and a 1080p resolution. The phone is fortified with Gorilla Glass Victus on both the front and back, providing robust protection against scratches and damage. The smartphone also features an under-display fingerprint scanner for security.

The smartphone is equipped with a powerful rear camera setup. The main camera (50 MP) boasts a large 1/1.55-inch sensor, along with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and a fast f/1.9 aperture. Complementing the main camera is an ultrawide unit — also 50MP — with a generous 117-degree field of view, autofocus, and a 1/2.76-inch sensor, paired with an f/2.2 lens. Additionally the Edge 40 Pro also incorporates a 12MP telephoto lens — a 1/2.93-inch sensor and a fast f/1.6 lens — with a 2x zoom capability. On the front, it has a 60MP selfie camera ingeniously nestled within a discreet punch-hole design, guaranteeing striking selfies with exceptional clarity and detail.

The smartphone offers an impressive battery life, powered by a 4,600mAh capacity battery. However, what truly sets this device apart is its lightning-fast charging capabilities. With the included charger, the Edge 40 Pro can charge from 0 to 50% in just seven minutes, and achieve a full charge in under 20 minutes, thanks to its super-fast 125W charging technology. Furthermore, the device supports wireless charging at 15W, providing convenient and hassle-free charging options. In terms of performance, the Edge 40 Pro is equipped with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, ensuring smooth multitasking and efficient performance, making it ideal for power users and gamers alike.
Edge 40 Pro which weighs less than 200 gm and is 8.6mm thick at the base has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. This means the device is capable of surviving under 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes, providing peace of mind and durability in various environments.
In Europe and Latin America, Motorola plans to offer the Edge 40 Pro with a single memory configuration, comprising LPDDR5X 12 GB RAM and 256 GB UFS 4.0 storage. The device does not have a slot for micro SD cards, although it does feature a tray that can hold two SIM cards.
The company will be launching Edge 40 Pro in Blue or Black for €899.99 — over INR 80,000 — across Europe soon. Availability and pricing of the device will slightly vary by specific countries more details are expected to emerge over the next couple of days.
