IBM is set to pause hiring for jobs that can be done by artificial intelligence (AI). According to Bloomberg News, in the coming years, around 7,800 jobs could be replaced by AI, CEO Arvind Krishna said. Hiring will be slowed or suspended for back-office functions such as human resources. In the next five years, Krishna expects 30 per cent of non-customer-facing roles could be automated or replaced by AI. Reduction may involve abstaining from filling positions that become vacant due to attrition.
