TSSC partners Britco & Bridco to open Mega CoE for Mobile repair in Kerela

New Delhi — In a bid to support the government’s “Right to Repair” initiative, the Telcom Sector Skill Council (TSSC), a leading skill development institution in India’s telecom sector, has joined forces with Britco & Bridco, a skill-based organization. Their collaboration aims to establish a cutting-edge Mega Centre of Excellence in Kerala, dedicated to providing training courses in mobile handset repair for aspiring youth. This initiative is in association with the Kerala Vocational Higher Secondary Education Department and Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.

The Mega Centre of Excellence is equipped with cutting-edge equipment, advanced laboratories, highly qualified faculty and will serve as a hub for comprehensive training programs in mobile handset repair. The partnership will be a key initiative in bridging the gap between industry requirements and the available talent in the domain. Under the partnership, TSSC will train about 3,500 high-end youth candidates in the next one year and help in placing them internationally and also empower them to become entrepreneurs.

The CoE was inaugurated by Arvind Bali, CEO of Telecom Sector Skill Council along with representatives from Britco & Bridco and district representatives from Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan along with several key stakeholders, industry leaders and government officials who committed to nurturing skill development and empowering the youth with relevant expertise in the region.

With the collaboration, TSSC and Britco & Bridco are poised to make a positive impact on the lives of aspiring technicians, bringing them closer to rewarding careers in the telecom industry. The CoE will have a designed curriculum and provide hands-on training to the candidates which will help them gain practical expertise in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mobile handsets, thereby enhancing their employability prospects.

Arvind Bali, CEO, Telecom Sector Skill Council said “We are delighted to join forces with Britco & Bridco to establish the Mega Centre of Excellence in Kerala. This collaboration will play a pivotal role in addressing the industry’s demand for skilled mobile handset repair technicians while providing valuable employment opportunities to the youth of Kerala. As India is the 2nd largest mobile manufacturing country in the world, by offering world-class training and certification programs, this initiative aims to catalyze socio-economic growth and contribute to the growing push towards ‘Right to Repair’ and the development of a skilled workforce ecosystem in telecom and related field.”

The Right to Repair is a major initiative being pushed by the government at the moment which will give consumers and independent repair professionals, access to the necessary tools, documentation, and parts needed to repair electronic devices. In order to support the consumers’ rights to access affordable and reliable repair services for their mobile handsets, TSSC will train and skill the candidates by promoting a more open and accessible environment for repairing electronic devices and equipment. By leveraging the expertise and resources of TSSC, Britco & Bridco this partnership seeks to bridge the skill gap and create a pool of competent professionals in the field.
