World University of Design introduces a future-facing program for the world’s fastest-growing economy – the Creative Economy.
The World University of Design (WUD), India’s premier institution for creative education, has announced a future ready MBA programme created specifically for the Creative Industries, one of the world’s fastest-growing economic sectors.
At a time when traditional MBAs are losing sheen and employability, this program reimagines business education for a world driven by creativity, design, and digital innovation. The creative economy spanning design, media & entertainment, fashion, gaming, arts & crafts, heritage & tourism, advertising, publishing, architecture, and cultural industries contributes over US$2 trillion to the global GDP and employs more than 50 million people. In India, it is growing nearly twice as fast as traditional sectors and could add ₹20 lakh crore to GDP by 2035, according to NITI Aayog.
“The MBA market has hit an inflection point,” said Prof. Sanjay Gupta, Vice Chancellor, World University of Design. “The world no longer needs managers of efficiency it needs designers of possibility. Our MBA prepares graduates to lead in industries where ideas, imagination, and innovation define success”.
The program blends core business disciplines strategy, marketing, finance, and operations with design thinking, systems design, and creative leadership, empowering students to manage innovation across industries that are reshaping modern life from entertainment and digital media to retail, fashion, and technology. Students will engage in real-world consulting projects, industry collaborations, and innovation labs that merge data with design, business with storytelling, and logic with empathy.
“This is not an MBA that follows the market,” said Prof. Sanmitra Chitte, Dean, WUD School of Business. “It anticipates it. Our graduates will be equally fluent in the language of creativity and commerce. They’ll be ready for roles in innovation consulting, brand experience, product strategy, and creative entrepreneurship.”
The application process is easy & seamless, with online forms available on the university’s official website. Admissions are anchored around innovative answers to questions included in the post-application process. This program also accepts CAT and CUET/PG scores for admission.
The introduction of the MBA in Design Strategy & Management reflects a global trend where universities are integrating creativity into business education. As automation reshapes traditional careers, the fastest-growing opportunities are emerging at the intersection of design, AI, media, and experience – sectors that demand leaders who can think beyond conventional frameworks. Established in 2016, the World University of Design is India’s only university with a Platinum Ranking in Design Education. It has been at the forefront of transforming design learning into a multidisciplinary model that now extends confidently into business leadership.
