India’s reform momentum is being driven by science, technology and innovation, with technology at the core of governance and economic transformation, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh said while presenting the year-end achievements of the Science & Technology and Earth Sciences ministries for 2025.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, the Minister said India’s future growth will be led by innovation-driven sectors such as space, deep oceans, biotechnology, clean energy and advanced manufacturing. He highlighted the Deep Ocean Mission and Gaganyaan as landmark initiatives, noting that India is preparing simultaneously for human spaceflight and deep-sea exploration, with both missions targeted around 2027.
Dr. Singh also underscored the ₹1 lakh crore Research Development and Innovation (RDI) Fund to support private sector R&D and the establishment of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation to broaden research funding and participation. He cited advances in indigenous technologies, weather forecasting, and the bioeconomy, stating that India has moved from being a technology importer to an exporter, and that science-led reforms will accelerate the country’s growth well before 2047.
